SSL Teases a Studio Revolution: New Console Incoming?

Solid State Logic (SSL) has ignited speculation across the pro audio world with a cryptic teaser for something they’re calling “The Studio Revolution” — set to be revealed on June 24th, 2025. The teaser, posted to their official site, is light on detail but heavy on intrigue. With only the words “A Studio Revolution is Coming” and a registration link for early access, SSL has everyone asking the same question:

What is SSL about to unleash?

A New Console on the Horizon?

SSL’s legacy in analog console design is untouchable: from the legendary 4000 E/G series to the modern Origin and Duality Fuse, their desks have been the backbone of countless hit records. But this teaser doesn’t feel like just another refresh or iteration. The language and timing suggest something bigger — possibly a new flagship hybrid console designed for the modern production workflow.

Could SSL be preparing to bring its best analog circuitry into a next-gen platform that integrates digital control, recall, and workflow tools powered by Harrison’s mix engine and Slate Digital’s DSP ecosystem?

The Harrison and Slate Factor

Let’s not forget that Audiotonix — SSL’s parent company — also owns Harrison Audio and Slate Digital. Harrison’s reputation for clean summing, surgical EQ, and flexible DAW control, combined with Slate’s forward-thinking digital modeling and plugin control, makes for a compelling synergy.

This could be the moment where SSL leverages all three brands to create something totally new:

  • SSL’s analog topology and ergonomics
  • Harrison’s DAW-integrated mixing tools
  • Slate’s DSP and modeling infrastructure

In short, we may be looking at a hardware-software hybrid mixing platform built for 2025 and beyond.

What Might It Look Like?

We’re in speculation territory, but here’s what might be on the table:

  • A mid-sized console with motorized faders, SSL analog preamps and EQ, digital routing, and deep DAW integration
  • Real-time plugin control for Slate’s ecosystem, hosted directly on the console or via a companion app
  • Touchscreen workflows, USB-C/Thunderbolt interfaces, or even built-in DSP acceleration
  • A console that lives natively in both the analog and digital domains — a true studio command center

When Will We Know More?

SSL promises the full reveal on Thursday, June 24th. Until then, all we have are hints, rumors, and a whole lot of hope from engineers who dream of the ultimate hybrid desk.

Stay tuned — we’ll be watching closely and will cover the announcement in full right here on Tone Circuit.
