AEA has extended its lineage of ribbon preamps into the 500-series format with the RPQ503, and introduced a companion chassis—the Snaqbox—tailored for portable, high-integrity deployment of modular audio gear.
The RPQ503 encapsulates AEA’s third-generation preamp circuitry in a 500-series module, pairing a high-gain mic/line stage with a refined 2-band shelving EQ—up to ±20 dB boost/cut. It offers up to 85 dB of clean gain, and a 68 kΩ input impedance, making it ideal for passive ribbon microphones while remaining transparent with dynamics or condensers. Designed for clarity and response, its EQ remains musical even under extreme settings.
The Snaqbox is a rugged two-slot 500-series chassis that prioritizes clean power and flexible routing. Each slot uses separate linear regulators to isolate noise, while a Link/Cascade switch enables internal signal routing between modules without external cables. Its steel frame and clear or fluorescent acrylic panels let you display your modules visibly, making it as much a visual statement as it is functional utility in studio or mobile setups.
Together, the RPQ503 and Snaqbox blend sonic sophistication with modular convenience. The RPQ503 delivers classic ribbon mic richness in a compact, high-gain format, while the Snaqbox reimagines the 500-series chassis—compact, flexible, and transparent—suited to live, studio, or hybrid workflows. AEA gives you both tone and mobility without compromise.
